Air Quality (Indoor)
What the results tell us for Young
Young Shire Council is not aware of any indoor air quality monitoring undertaken during the reporting period. It is however aware of the value of good indoor air quality and takes very seriously its responsibilities as a building regulator under the Building Code of Australia. These responsibilities are outlined in various Australian Standards with respect to natural ventilation, mechanical ventilation and microbial control in air handling systems. Council's role in respect to these aspects of indoor air quality is also legislated in public health laws in New South Wales through Legionella control.
Council has staff that are authorised officers under the NSW Public Health Act 1991 with power to enter premises, inspect and test systems, and carry out investigations about operating and maintenance requirements to ensure compliance of regulated systems.
