Boorowa Shire is one of the many inland Local Government Areas in the Australian Capital Region.
Located on the edge of the south western slopes region of New South Wales, the shire occupies an area of about 257,860 hectares.
As a result of extensive clearing for a rich and productive agricultural industry, little remains of the damp schlerophyll forests and woodlands that once dominated the landscape.
As of June 2007, some 2342 people lived in Boorowa Shire. (Source Australian Bureau of Statistics comments on years 2001-2007 ABS Catalogue No 3218.0 (2008)
